SUMMARY:Workplace Wellness - Amy Goddard\, GO Sports Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Amy will share her own experience of the pains of sitting the past month and realizing what her patients who have to sit all day are up against. Sitting is the new smoking. Our bodies were meant to move not sit all day! She will share ideas to incorporate movement into your workday.\n\n \n\nWhen we sit all day\, the compliance of our thoracic wall actually stiffens and can cause disordered breathing\, where we fall into a pattern of shallow breathing\, never getting a full exhale a state of hyperinflation\, which has been linked to anxiety and catastrophic thinking. Wearing a mask actually exacerbates this shallow breathing pattern (but wear your mask). Amy will touch on simple strategies to combat this.\n\n \n\nAmy will also share the heart-mind-body connection and strategies such as practicing gratitude and paced breathing that are very useful right now during these pandemic times.
